For us THE MICRAGIRLS (from Kuopio, Finland) are just the best of their kind. This guitar-organ-drums-combo (all three singing) have gained themselves a live reputation over their native country Finland, but also during tours throuout Europe.
The ladies lent their bandname from their first band mobile, a Nissan Micra, and draw their musical influences from obscure 60's garagepunk and trashy rock'n'roll. These sounds, they've learned to love prior the band was formed in 2001, from compilations like Wavy Gravy, Big Itch, Sin Alley, Born Bad, Las Vegas Grind, were just the starting point. While they still have some covers in their setlist, lusty partypieces like "Go Go Gorilla" by Shandells or "Leave My Kitten Alone" by Little Willie John, they do songs and things their own way.
Dressed in their exclusive, handmade Micra-outfits and white circusboots they perform their music with an honest enthusiasm which is remarkable. The vocals are squeaky and roaring, the organ is pure dementia and the guitar rips alongside the primal rhythms.
The Micragirls are what trash-garage-punk-rockarolla is all about. Mean, nasty, filthy, inept and wild - but still with a certain sophistication and coolness! They are armed with great tough songs full of bizarre tales of meaningless mayhem. Raw primitive pounding and ripping screaming vocals with crazy unintelligible lyrics make even the grown men yell for more.
Following to 3 sold-out 7"s the Bone Voyage 10" release (limited to 500 copies) is followed up by the first full album length appearance on CD (2 EPs as 2CD, consisting of the songs from the 10" (CD1) and 8 songs from the previous 7"s (CD2). Can you follow...?
However: Since the Bone Voyage release of their debut album “Feeling Dizzy, Honey?” it went well for them. The album was licensed to Japan . Jon Spencer and Matt Verta-Ray invited them to support Heavy Trash during their fall 2007 dates in Europe. Beginning 2008 Go!Team asked to join their UK dates. And once again more touring with Heavy Trash. Also the Haunted Heart 7” came out and another 12” vinyl version of the debut. Currently they are preparing for the second album, set for release on Bone Voyage in September 2009.
